Monthly Archives: November 2010

Last July 11, 2010. I wrote a blog entitled “The Race” (in hindsight, looks very familiar with the “Faster”, “Higher”, “Stronger” series haha).

In that blog, I was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write because I was so grateful to be exactly where God wanted me to be. I was at the “starting line” of the race that he has marked for my life (Hebrews 12:1) it finally became a reality. In that blog I talked about 4 things that the bible tells us about the race God has in store for our lives. Looking back, I realized I never would have been in this race if it wasn’t for discipleship.

Teaching Others is the Best Way to Learn

Last April, I resigned from my work from Standard Chartered Bank to take up Master of Science in Mathematics in De La Salle University-Manila and teach part-time as well. At first I thought that the role of a teacher was going to be a piece of cake since I aced most of my Math/Stat subjects during college, not long did I find out that it wasn’t really going to be as easy as I thought it would be.

Wikipedia defines a “Teacher” as – A person who provides schooling for others.

If you are a “person who provides schooling for others”, then obviously you should be an expert of whatever subject area you are teaching. One of the teacher’s role is to make the student understand the lesson and breakdown any roadblocks or hindrances that prevent the students to go forward with the learning process. Advance topics in subjects such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Music, etc. require knowledge of certain pre-requisites before you will be allowed to enroll in these subjects.

Example: When studying Integral Calculus, you need to have a basic working knowledge of Algebra and Differential Calculus before you can learn how to integrate.

Trusting in God Completely- Lloyd Sahagun’s Journey and Testimony

Just this Saturday, I went to Pampanga with Ate Ruth, Jay, Lynn, Pastor Nixon to see the soft opening/dedication of Lloyd’s business: The Petron Bulilit project. The dedication was really short and I can still recount what happened last Saturday. Pastor Nixon, exhorted a word from the book of Deuteronomy. This chapter is entitled: “Do not forget the Lord”.

Petron Bulilit Project

Deuteronomy 8:11

Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.

This chapter, commands us that we shouldn’t forget God in everything that we do. Pastor Nixon said that in times of successes, people tend to forget God compared to times wherein we’re undergoing a difficult situation. The prayer for Lloyd is that, he will not forget God when his business someday becomes successful and at the same time prospers him as well.
