Part 5 of the blog: “The Race of Life”

5) The Importance of building the right foundations early

As we were getting ready and waiting for the gunshot to start the race, I noticed that Pastor Ferdie Cabiling was there competing for the 10K race as well. Pastor Ferdie Cabiling is well known for being a triathlon athlete and a few months ago he just finished a 102 KM Ultra Marathon. This guy is a seasoned veteran when it comes to running, and during the race, I kept my eye on him with the hopes of being able to overtake him soon enough.

After we reached the 5K mark, Pastor Ferdie was still within sight, but after going through the overpass again, he sped up and I suddenly lost him. When I got back to the starting line, I realized that there was no way that I could have overtook Pastor Ferdie because he was definitely trained for this.

Similarly in life, this just goes to show us how important it is to build on the proper foundation early on as we go through this race called life. Pastor Ferdie has definitely been training a long time already for races like this and that is why he just breezed through the whole thing. In fact, Pastor Ferdie has been a Christian for the longest time as well and has followed Jesus ever since he was a student. This is why a lot of people look to his leadership, it’s because he started early in his walk with God. He understood the principles of building a biblical foundation in your life so that you’ll be able to soar in your walk with God later on. This is the reason he soared during the race, because of the right foundation that he got from his training.

1 Corinthians 3:11

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Matthew 7:24-27

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Building the right foundation in your life early will definitely benefit you later in life. :)
